Expertise
Jürgen Braun is an expert in the fields of image generation, image processing and medical engineering. His research focuses on the development of time-harmonic ultrasound and magnetic resonance elastography as well as the elucidation of the relationship between pathological alterations of tissue structures and tissue mechanics. Leading developments have been made in the areas of imaging techniques, equipment development and image calculation. They allow the acquisition of high spatial resolution maps of mechanical tissue parameters from biopsy specimens to organs and thus a wide range of preclinical and clinical applications in tumors, diseases of the brain, heart and many other internal organs. To date, his research activities have resulted in a number of peer reviewed publications, issued or pending patents, and a textbook.
Vita PD Dr. rer. nat. Jürgen Braun
After his PhD at the University of Freiburg and a research stay at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in California, Jürgen Braun joined the Institute of Medical Informatics as a research associate. After receiving his state doctorate at the Department of Medicine of the Free University, he comprehensively expanded the interdisciplinary working group Elastography of the Charité under joint leadership with Prof. Dr. Ingolf Sack, based at the Institute of Radiology. Since the age-related change of the institute leadership in early 2021, Jürgen Braun was appointed head of the Image and Signal Processing Group.
