Akira Poncette is a physician and scientist with proven expertise in medical informatics and digital medicine. Since 2021, he leads the Patient Monitoring and Alarm Management working group and is Deputy Director of the Institute for Medical Informatics. He received his clinical training in internal medicine and anesthesiology. Since 2020, he has been a fellow of the Charité BIH Digital Clinician Scientist program.
Akira Poncette's focus is on the development and implementation of patient monitoring technologies and alarm management processes and systems. He pursues his research with a translational focus, synergistically with the CMIO Monitoring Task Force, which he coordinates. His goal is to make the Charité a pioneer in intersectoral and interoperable (tele)monitoring, thus laying the foundations for personalized and predictive medicine with maximum patient safety.
