Selcan Ipek-Ugay studied medical informatics in Heidelberg. During her PhD at Charité, her research focused on analyzing image data acquired by ultrasound and magnetic resonance elastography and developing fully automated feature extraction mechanisms. Afterwards, she first accepted a position in the Department of Research and Education at Charité, then a position as a deputy professor at HTW Berlin. After completing this employment, she took a research position at the Institute of Medical Informatics with a focus on digital image processing and medical data science.
