Expertise

Drew Cooper is a doctoral candidate in Health Data Sciences at Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin, having begun his studies in 2022. His doctoral research builds upon his work as a data scientist with the OPEN project—with whom he has been affiliated with since 2020—working closely with his supervisor Dr. med. Katarina Braune. Drew Cooper previously completed a masters degree in Medical Neuroscience (also at the Charité) concentrating in computational neuroscience, graduating in 2019.

Drew Cooper’s research project focuses on sleep quality and duration in people with type 1 diabetes using automated insulin delivery systems. He uses a multimodal approach, implementing case-control observational studies using wearables technology and electroencephalography, as well as advanced statistical analysis and machine learning algorithms. He emphasises the importance of open-source software and technology, in addition to pushing for greater transparency in research through open-science values.
