In summer 2020, Niklas Giesa completed his master's thesis as part of his studies in Digital Transformation in cooperation with Charité. He trained Machine Learning models using Electronic Health Records (EHR) to predict the mortality of COVID-19 cases. The work was supervised by Dr. rer. nat. Stefan Haufe and Prof. Dr. Dr. Felix Balzer. Since winter 2020, Niklas Giesa is permanently employed as a Data Scientist and PhD student in the research group of Prof. Dr. Dr. Felix Balzer. His tasks include:
- Development of machine learning models with EHR data
- Data engineering tasks in the areas of ETL, HDFS, DWH
- Clinical analysis of postoperative neurological complications
